Playing with Amy' stuff

The “House Critters” Upstairs

The house critters usually did things together and normally where Henrietta Bobbie Bunny, the eldest of the critters was so were the rest of the gang. So it was not unusual to see her with Ducky Duck, Blue Booby, Big Bunny and Rainy Reindeer having a discussion. What was unusual was the location; they were under the dining room table.

Major holidays, birthdays and Valentines’ day had been celebrated so it was very quiet around the house. What made it even worse was Amy and Barb had gone to see Barbs’ sister Jackie in Ocala Florida. Jackie and her husband spent January through March there to escape the worst of the winter weather. The critters’ conversation centered on what Amy, the youngest human, had got for Christmas and her Birthday. They were interested in her because she was the only one that got fun presents. With Amy gone for two weeks, leaving the upstairs empty, there would be plenty of time to paw around. They went through the fireplace room, up the stairs, down the hall, down another hall and into Amy’s living room.

This is where all the gadgets were kept that the critters wanted to investigate. They had been up here a lot of times over the years and knew how to turn on the TV and make the music play. A couple of days ago Ducky had watched Amy playing with a present she got for Christmas and thought it looked like fun for the critters. She called it a Wii U, whatever that was, and it put pictures on the TV along with making lots of different sounds. As usual Amy living room was messy and the game console and controller were sitting on the floor ready to go. Now the critters needed to find the TV remote and figure out how to turn on the other boxes.

The bunnies got the task of finding the remote, while the rest of them fiddled with the two boxes. The fiddlers split up with Blue and Rainy checking out the big box while Ducky studied the small box. He pushed some buttons with letters on them with his bill and stepped on a couple of other things, but nothing happened. He leaned in real close to look at the symbols when the box started to make sounds and little pictures filled the screen, which caused him to jump backwards into Henrietta. Blue and Rainy had done some of the same actions but had actually pushed the power button on the game console which woke up the gamepad.

They had not found the TV remote but still spent a long time just tapping the small pictures and pressing on all the buttons to see what showed up on the gamepad. While not actually playing a game or cruising the Internet they were having a lot of fun, which of course was the whole idea of going upstairs!
